The Freewill Shakespeare Festival encourages submissions from artists of all backgrounds, regardless of race, colour, national origin, age, religion, creed, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

Additional information:
The Freewill Shakespeare Festival has been presenting outdoor performances of the works of William Shakespeare in the Heritage Amphitheatre in Hawrelak Park in Edmonton, AB since 1989. For the 2020 season the Freewill Shakespeare Festival will be presenting Macbeth and Much Ado About Nothing in rep.

2020 Season directors Nancy McAlear and Dave Horak will be seeing EDMONTON BASED CAEA and non-CAEA actors by appointment only. Please indicate your CAEA status in the body of your e-mail submission. Only those selected for appointments will be contacted.

Please note any movement/dance experience and a vocal range in your submission email.

Those who have worked at the festival in the last three seasons are welcome to submit a letter of interest, including any movement/dance experience and a vocal range, along with photo and updated resume but will likely not be asked to audition.

All actors selected for an audition will be asked to present 2 pieces: 1 dramatic classical and 1 comedic of any period.

Members of Canadian Actors’ Equity will be seen first at the auditions.
