What’s On (Calgary): Directing Across Channels – Ghost River Theatre and Bucket Club

On October 28, 2019 at 7:00 PM, Ghost River Theatre invites Calgary’s directors, makers, and creators to meet Nel Crouch, Bucket Club Director, for an evening of comradery and industry talks about the directing ecosystems of Canada and the UK. Nel is a nimble artist whose practice spans traditional text-based directing to experimental collaborative creation. Topics may include: directing your career as a director, creating a diverse body of work, directing as both a day-job and artistic practice, nurturing international collaboration, exploring the practice of assistant directing, etc.

Space is limited. If you are interested in participating, please email Kate Stadel at [email protected]. Briefly outline your experience as a performance director/creator and why you are interested in attending.

Bucket Club theatre company (UK) is crossing the ocean and journeying upstream to Ghost River, where the two companies will be collaborating on a new project around the theme of extinction from October 28 – Nov 11, 2019. This collaboration is made possible by funding from the British Council’s New Conversations grant.

Nel Crouch is a theatre director and writer working between London, Bristol and Rotterdam. She makes collaborative work spanning new writing, comedy, classics and devising. Interested in making work that invites its audience to play, Nel creates pared back, surprising visual languages and works with live music.

THE BEASTS was a devised outdoor family show co-commissioned by the Lyric Hammersmith and Latitude.
