CITADEL THEATRE GENERAL AUDITIONS

WHEN

The Citadel Theatre will be holding General Auditions on MONDAY, OCTOBER 21 and MONDAY, OCTOBER 28, in EDMONTON. Our Associate Artistic Director Rachel Peake will be in attendance.

WHO

Performers who have not auditioned for Rachel in the past two years and who reside in the greater Edmonton area are invited to submit their headshots and resumes for general audition consideration.

WHAT

The Citadel Theatre will not yet have finalized its play selection for the 2020/21 season at the time of the audition. The purpose of the annual General Audition is for the artistic leaders of the Citadel Theatre to acquaint themselves with the work of performers in Edmonton. Show-specific auditions will be held later in the season.

HOW TO SUBMIT

Please email your headshot and resume to [email protected] with “GENERAL AUDITION SUBMISSION” in the subject line.

All submissions (for both audition dates) must be received by October 1. Only successful applicants will be contacted with an audition time slot by end of day Monday, October 7.

Artists who are members of the Canadian Actors Equity Association will be given audition priority. Non-member artists will be seen when and if spaces are available. The Citadel Theatre is a member of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres, and operates within the jurisdiction of the Canadian Theatre Agreement. Actors cast in any production, whether members of CAEA or not, will be engaged under a CTA contract.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

Two contrasting monologues or one monologue and a song, sung without accompaniment.

If you have limited availability for the audition days, please include that information in your submission for ease of scheduling. We will do our best, but may not be able to accommodate all requests. We are not accepting video submissions for our general auditions.

Please note that our 2020/2021 season will be announced in early 2020.

INCLUSIVITY STATEMENT

The Citadel Theatre is committed to inclusive casting. We are committed to celebrating, welcoming, and sharing stories with the many different communities that make up Edmonton. We strongly encourage submissions from performers who self-identify as members of under-represented communities. If there are any accessibility obstacles (language, disability, or any other considerations) preventing you from applying to audition please let us know and we will work with you to overcome them.

ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION

The auditions will be held in the Bentley Salons on the 3rd floor of Citadel Theatre’s administration (9828 101A Avenue). The audition space is wheelchair accessible via elevator, and a gender-inclusive wheelchair-accessible washroom is available. Detailed access information will be provided when audition spots are booked; however, should you require more information prior to submitting we would be happy to answer any questions.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We wish to acknowledge that the land on which we live and work is Treaty No. 6 territory and a traditional meeting ground and home of the First Nations, including both the treaty signatories – Cree, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Stony and Cree-Iroquois – as well as other Indigenous peoples, such as the Blackfoot and Métis, who occupied this land. We extend our appreciation for the opportunity to live, create and perform on this territory.
