Back to School Shakespeare – for TEENS

Performing Shakespeare is FUN! We will laugh, play, cheer and jeer, all while learning performance techniques that will set you on the path to becoming the EPIC stage performer you were born to be – whether you know it or not!

A crash course for teens on diving into Shakespeare plays in ways that are dynamic, playful and totally desk free! Get a jump-start on understanding some of Shakespeare’s most well-loved plays before they come up in your classroom.

Selections of text will include Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, and Macbeth.

Participants will interact in playful ways that:
– awaken the emotional, imaginative and physical worlds of the play.
– explore heightened language, rhetorical devices and verse structure.
– inspire personally connected and intellectually dynamic performances.

Refreshments will be served from 10:00 – 10:30 pm so please feel free to come early to settle in.
This valuable workshop is presented at this low price in the spirit of community theatre.

Instructor Bio:

Iam Coulter is an actor, director, arts administrator and teaching artist with a specialized focus in Shakespeare performance. Iam has been a popular guest instructor for programs throughout Alberta including ARTSTREK – Theatre Alberta’s acclaimed summer program for teens, Company of Rogues and Calgary Actors’ Studio. Iam recently directed the Calgary premiere of Shakespeare in Love for Morpheus Theatre and is the Head Speaker Coach for TEDx YYC 2020.
