Edmonton’s Broadway Bound Performing Arts will hold Open auditions for the Broadway Musical The Wizard of Oz on Saturday 24 August (10 am to 3.30 pm) and Friday 6 September (5 pm to 8.30 pm) with movement callbacks on Saturday 7 Sept 2.00 till 3.00 and dance callbacks Saturday 7 September 3.00 – 4.30 pm.
CASTING:
- Dorothy Gale (female – age range teen to young adult)
- Aunt Em (female – age range mid 30’s to mid 50/60’s)
- Uncle Henry (male – age range mid 30’s to mid 50/60’s)
- 3 Lead Farmhands (male/female teens to adults)
- Miss Almira Gulch (age range mid 20’s to mid 50’s) – must be able to ride a bike
- Glinda Good Witch of the North – (age range teen to mid 30’s)
- Cowardly Lion (male late teens to adults)
- Tinman (male late teens to adults)
- Scarecrow (male late teens to adults)
- Wicked Witch of West – (age range teen to mid 40’s)
- Wizard of Oz (male any age)
- Munchkins – male and female (youth, teens and adults of all ages)
- Other lead roles and some roles with lines/vocals will also be selected

AUDITION PREPARATION:
- Song (preferably from a musical) highlighting vocal range (provide piano sheet music for the accompanist)
- Monologue (maximum 1.5 minutes) highlighting acting ability
DANCERS – Prepare a solo (provide own music) any genre (we will be looking for dancers with musical theatre, jazz and/or ballet training)
DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR AN AUDITION SPOT – Tuesday 20 August for 24 August audition and Tuesday 3 September for 6 September audition.
PLEASE NOTE: There is no cost to audition. Selected cast members will be asked to provide a $150 production fee to help cover costs associated with mounting the show.
All those who successfully audition will be required to attend a movement or dance callback on Saturday 7 September – movement 2 pm(1 hour) – dance 3.00 pm (1.5 hours) at Ruth Carse Centre.
REHEARSALS: Rehearsals are expected to commence on Friday 13 September at Ruth Carse Centre, 11205 107 Avenue, Edmonton. Not all cast members will be required to attend all rehearsals but should be available to rehearse on Fridays 6 till 9 (approximately) and/or Sundays 1 till 5 pm (approximately)
