About Vertigo Theatre

Vertigo Theatre has entertained audiences for over 42 years. We are located at the base of the Calgary Tower, which is home to our administration and ticket offices as well as our two performance venues. We program the BD&P Mystery Theatre Series and are also home to a variety of arts organizations that rent our performance venues throughout the season. Our diverse audience includes young adults to urban professionals and seniors.

About the Position

Vertigo Theatre seeks an individual for the position of Head of Props position for Strangers on a Train, reporting to the Technical Director and Production & Facility Manger, The Head of Props is responsible for sourcing or building all props needed for the production.

Vertigo Theatre is looking for a dynamic, collaborative team member with a passion for theatrical innovation. The candidate will have proven experience in prop building, working with designers and technical crew to help realize the final vision of the show. The Ideal candidate with have experience with some or all of these skills:

– Hand and Machine sewing Skills
– Upholstery
– Casting and Mold Making
– Minor electrical repair
– Special effects construction
– Experience in other production areas of the theatre
– Scenic painting
– Hand and/or computer drafting computer imaging skills (Photoshop, etc.)
– Interpreting technical drawings

Additional Skills and Requirements:

– Comfortable working at heights – Comfortable using power tools
– Able to lift 50lbs or more – Ability to take direction & work independently
– Clean Driver’s Abstract – Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or equivalent)

Hours:

40 hours per week with some evenings and weekends required

Dates:

6 weeks Starting August 12, 2019 – September 20, 2019

Compensation:

$850.00 per week Plus 4% Vacation Pay. Some evenings and weekends required
