Director Farren Timoteo, the chosen team will undergo a yearlong development process beginning
in September 2019. They will receive dramaturgical support, engage in a weeklong workshop
culminating in a public showcase, engage a cast of local emerging performers and have their new
work produced as part of the 2020 Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival.
*Each team of applicants should submit the following:
- A CV
- An artist’s bio
- A portfolio of up to 3 samples of writing and/or compositions
- A letter of intent outlining the following:
• Why you want to take on this project?
• How do you hope to develop as an artist through the process?
• Your pitch for a new musical work based on a folk tale, fairy tale, or piece of
classic children’s literature. The work should aim to be under 60 minutes, and
appropriate for children aged 5 and up.

structure, but will consider individual applicants.
We encourage applicants to pitch folk tales, fairy tales, and literature from diverse cultural
backgrounds. The New Musical Program aims to introduce Edmonton audiences to stories from

emerging artists with an interest in theatre for young people.
