What’s On (Calgary): YOUth Riot – Alberta Playwrights’ Network

Alberta Playwrights’ Network’s YOUth Riot – now in its fifth year – is an opportunity for Calgary’s Queer youth to raise their voice and share their stories!

Over the course of 10 weeks, Alberta Playwrights’ Network and guest artists have facilitated a creative writing program for Queer youth, helping them learn skills, meet other queer youth, create, imagine, inspire. This is YOUth Riot.

And now…we are ready to SHOW YOU OUR VOICE! This event is the culmination of their work: a public festival of short pieces created by the participants by and staged by professional actors and directors from the theatre community. It’s a time to celebrate, a time to inspire, and a time to break the status quo.

Come to Lunchbox Theatre on Monday, May 20th, at 7:30pm, to see what these talented young playwrights have been creating.

Admission is by donation at the door (recommended donation: $15) with all proceeds supporting the future of YOUth Riot at Alberta Playwrights’ Network! We will be accepting cash or credit.

You can RSVP by emailing [email protected]
