The IGNITE! Festival of Emerging Artists is a festival dedicated to supporting, mentoring, and presenting early career artists of all disciplines. IGNITE! allows artists to embrace risk in a supportive environment, while providing resources, a bridge to the professional arts community, and meaningful opportunities for collaboration and community building with their peers.
We are calling all emerging performers, designers, stage managers, and crew to come out, meet the teams, and get to know the shows in this year’s festival. We are looking to fill remaining roles in this year’s line-up of performances.

The festival heartily encourages artists from underrepresented communities to apply: such as individuals of colour, those from the traditional indigenous cultures of our land, members of the LGBTQ+ community, neurodiverse peoples, and individuals living with disability.
Artists are invited to remove measurements and physical features from the resume.
Thank you in advance for the work and time that goes in to preparing for and attending an audition/interview. We see and gratefully acknowledge your labour. If selected, every artist is paid a small honorarium for their work.
The IGNITE! Festival does not tolerate harassment, bullying, or discrimination – whether in project rehearsal spaces or at festival events. All artists and staff are expected to uphold the values and behaviours of safe arts and work spaces.
Our festival takes place on Treaty 7 territory, home of the Blackfoot Confederacy, the Tsuut’ina First Nation, the Stoney Nakoda, and the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III. What we now call the City of Calgary was originally called Moh’kins’tsis and was marked by the meeting place of the Bow River and the Elbow River. The IGNITE! Festival pays honour to this land and its First peoples by following the teachings of its waters. We endeavor to provide a place for emerging artists to meet and come together – where like the two rivers, artists may surge forward in their artistic calling through the power of their collective and collaborative force.
