Staged is looking for actors to cast in the play Along For the Bride by Grace Fitzgerald for the Edmonton 2019 Fringe Festival!
SYNOPSIS:
Along For the Bride tells the story of Aaron, a young man who wakes up onstage and has no idea how he got there or that he is acting in a play. He attempts to follow the story of his character’s sister’s wedding without derailing and ruining the show. The play constantly breaks the fourth wall as its humorous and overly dramatic cast poke fun and parody various elements of theatre, such as excessive exposition and breaking into song.
CHARACTERS:
Aaron – Mistaken for “Matthew”, Aaron is thrown into the show with no context or awareness of the play and its plot.
Samantha – Matthew’s sister, Samantha is the incredibly stressed and high strung bride to be.
Benjamin – Samantha’s fiancée, Benjamin uses charming and witty dialogues to express emotion.
Carol – Samantha and Matthew’s mother, Carol has a very caring but passive aggressive and emotional nature.
Robert – Samantha and Matthew’s father and ex wife to Carol, Robert uses excessive dramatization to show he is a little on the wild side.
Angeline – Robert’s new partner, Angeline is perhaps too desperate to fit into this family picture.
Andrew – Benjamin’s best man, Andrew portrays the stereotype of an underdeveloped antagonist.
Casting of all roles will be of actors between the ages of 14-19, please do not apply if this is not applicable to you.
REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES:
The rehearsal schedule is flexible and will depend primarily on the schedules of the actors involved in the production.
The show will take place during the 2019 Edmonton Fringe Festival (August 15-26).
AUDITIONS:
Please prepare and memorize a 1-2 minute contemporary monologue for your audition. Auditions will take place at the Lansdowne Community Hall (4915 124 St NW, Edmonton, AB T6H 3T9), please enter through the east entrance (beside the rink). The auditions will take place on Monday, May 20th from 4-7pm and Tuesday, May 21st from 4-7pm. Please follow the link below to sign up:
