L’UniThéâtre is holding auditions for their upcoming production of Eugénie Beaudry’s play, Simone et le whole shebang.
Play synopsis:
Simone has just arrived to a long-term care facility in Fort McMurray. Placed there by her daughter, Simone-Alice, this 65 year-old Québécois actress’s Alzeimer’s has worsened and has left her incapable of taking care of herself. Jessy, an old Acadian cowboy, is also at this same facility. Though he still has his mind and his colourful vocabulary, he’s lost his mobility, his heart and his will to live. Both are plagued by youth. Simone, by her estranged daughter who is ever hopeful at having a perfect life with her own family and Jessy, by his past self with all his ambitions of becoming a country star before he was sucked into the flashy cash of the oil industry. Somewhere between their egos and fears, Simone and Jessy must face their lackluster realities.
