Artstrek (Alberta): The Artstrek Newcomer Scholarship

 

The Artstrek Newcomer Scholarship aims to bring new voices, backgrounds, and experiences to the Artstrek community. Students who have been living in Canada for five years or less, and who have never previously attended Artstrek, may apply. Artstrek strives to be an inclusive, diverse, and welcoming experience for theatre-loving teenagers, and this bursary will provide students with $300 each towards their Artstrek tuition. Preference will be given to students in need of financial assistance.

Description: For teens who have previously never attended Artstrek, and who are new to Canada within the past five years.
Deadline to Apply: May 31, 2019

Applications must include the following information:

  • Your name and age.
  • Where you currently live.
  • The country where you used to live.
  • Why you want to attend Artstrek.
Applications may take the form of a letter, or a video message from the student (uploaded to an unlisted YouTube account), both of which can be addressed to Luc Tellier and sent to artstrek@theatrealberta.com.
 
The Artstrek Newcomer Scholarship was created by Luc Tellier is generously funded by private donors, many of whom are professional Canadian theatre artists.
 
Theatre Alberta recommends applying to attend Artstrek before the Newcomer Scholarship deadline to ensure they are placed in the Exploration of their choice. You can indicate that you have applied for the Newcomer Scholarship in your online application under the Community Sponsorship section. Students applying for the Newcomer Scholarship may also apply for Theatre Alberta Artstrek Scholarships to further offset the cost of attending if they are financial need.
