Workshop (Calgary): The Art of Sign Language in Theatre

Inside Out Theatre

You are invited to join Inside Out Theatre on Friday, March 22nd, 6PM at their studio for a presentation from the new Artistic Associate for Deaf Arts and Creative Integration, Landon KrentzThe Art of Sign Language in Theatre explores how Sign language is more than just a service added to a presentation or performance.  How do we incorporate sign language into the development of theatre, from playwriting to directing?  This workshop presentation will discuss different types of theatrical frameworks that allow Deaf artists and ASL performers to be seen in the artistic process and offers some tools and resources for theatre practitioners to build a more impactful experience for both Deaf and hearing audiences.

This event is free and will be approximately 1 ½ hour including a question and answer portion.  Inside Out’s new studio space is located at Eau Claire Market (200 Barclay Parade, unit A02).  Snacks and refreshments will be provided and there will be an informal gathering in our common area afterward to mingle and reflect.  ASL interpreters will be available.

Inside Out is really excited to have Landon join on their team and witness the impact he will have on the community.  They hope you can attend!  Please RSVP to jeremy@insideouttheatre.com or col@insideouttheatre.com.
