Auditions (Edmonton): Hardboiled – Podcast

Are you interested in voice acting? Do you love stories about mean streets, hard-bitten PIs, and no-good dames? Are all your cool friends starting podcasts, and you’re feeling left out? We have an audition for you!

Empress of Blandings is embarking on a brand-new venture: a narrative podcast. “Hardboiled” is an affectionate homage to the noir-style detective radio shows of the 1930s and 40s. Get excited for all the drama, violence, and camp – but not the casual racism/sexism/homophobia – of your favourite investigators of the days of yore.

We are looking to put together a diverse and dynamic cast to work on this project with us. Previous voice acting experience would be great, but is not required. Ability to do multiple different accents/voices will be considered a major asset.

Auditions will be held on Wednesday, March 6, from 7-9 pm and Sunday, March 10, from 7-9pm, at the ATB Financial Arts Barns (come to the admin entrance behind Orange Hall). You can sign up for an audition spot at the google doc below. If you can’t make it either of those times, but are still interested in auditioning, send at e-mail to empressofblandingsproductions@gmail.com so that we can work something out.

NB: If you sign up, but are unable to audition, *PLEASE* let us know and delete your name from the form! Don’t leave us hanging, that makes us very sad.

A 1-2 minute monologue would be welcome, but is not mandatory. Come prepared to do some cold reads and a bit of improv.

As always, we are committed to the promotion of diversity in theatre. We encourage performers of all genders, backgrounds, and physical abilities to come out and audition.
