Synopsis/Description:

Italy, 1953: Margaret Johnson, an elegant and strong-willed Southern woman, has taken her daughter, Clara, on a vacation to Italy. There’s a chance encounter between Clara and a young Italian gentleman, Fabrizo. The two fall in love under the Italian sun. As Clara and Fabrizio grow closer, Margaret must grapple with the question of whether to disclose Clara’s devastating secret to Fabrizio and to his family.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

Prepare a musical theatre piece of your choice – 16+ bars (you do not need to prepare a whole song). We would like to see a piece that shows compelling storytelling and character. A Ballad or dramatic song is better than a comedic choice. Bring Sheet music and we will provide accompaniment. A recorded instrumental track is also allowed – please discuss when you book your audition so that we have the ability to play it.

You will be asked to read short scenes from the script with other auditioners.
Headshots and resumes are recommended but not required.

REHEARSAL NOTES:

When you book your audition, you will be sent a sheet with potential rehearsal dates. Please bring this completed to your audition. If you do not bring it in, we will assume you are available for all listed dates. You MUST be available for all rehearsals/performances from June 20th to close of show.

CHARACTER NOTES:

(With regards to listed ages – flexibility will be applied, it’s more about the chemistry. The director encourages submissions from artists who self-identify as diverse.).
