ROLES / RANGES:
AMIR (This role has already been cast)
Male, Pakistani – American, late 30’s, early 40’s. A corporate lawyer at odds with his Muslim heritage.
EMILY
Female, Caucasian, early 30s. A painter whose work focuses on the spiritual roots of the Muslim faith. Attractive and warm, articulate and compassionate; strives to be even-handed and level-headed in both her personal and professional relationships. On the verge of a major breakthrough in her career, she finds herself and her marriage increasingly threatened by her husband AMIR’s complicated relationship to his Islamic roots and faith.
ABE
Male, Pakistani American, early 20s. AMIR’s nephew. As mainstream American as they come, but becoming somewhat of a young Muslim activist in his community, he is passionate, headstrong, and devout in his beliefs. Loves his uncle, seeks his approval while at the same time the two are at idealistic odds regarding the Muslim faith.
ISAAC
Male, Caucasian, late 30s to early 40s. A successful Jewish art curator with a vibrant and seductive personality. ISAAC draws people in with his charmingly quick wit, easy manner and passion — passion about art, about politics, about his family, about his Jewish faith — you name it.
JORY
Female, African American, mid to late 30s. Recently made partner in AMIR’s firm. Married to ISAAC. Strikingly beautiful, intelligent, forthright, and sharp. An articulate and confident woman who has wrestled her way to the top. Not afraid to fight with the big boys and get her hands dirty if necessary.
