Participants will work with the Banff Centre Production team on all Banff Centre productions, presentations, and programs. You will have the opportunity to be involved in a professional Performing Arts environment where you can strengthen your ability to adapt to change.
The high intensity environment of ongoing creative work means that no two weeks will be the same. You will gain some experience in all areas of production work and be encouraged to attend interdepartmental workshops that may be offered in wardrobe, props building, scenic carpentry, life drawing, lighting, sound, make-up, and millinery.
What does the program offer?
Responsibilities may include creating production schedules, creating rehearsal schedules, advancing shows, prepping and ordering equipment for artists, setting up artist studios, loading trucks, and maintaining percussion and string instrument inventories.
Show and event related experience may consist of communicating requirements with sound, lighting, and staging teams, operating basic sound and lighting equipment, calling show cues for concerts and events, and acting as assistant stage manager with the mentorship of our Stage Manager. Administrative work may consist of archival documentation of pieces performed and artists performing, creating show reports, date collection of persons involved for development reporting.
Who should apply?
Ideal candidates will have completed formal theatre technical training in an accredited institution or have equivalent work experience and have a passionate interest in the entertainment industry. They will be able to demonstrate strong organizational aptitude, and be computer literate with interest in exploring theatre, music, and production technologies.
Participants will be required to supply their own Class 1, C.S.A. approved safety footwear, and working blacks in good repair and free of logos.
