The submission deadline is fast approaching for the Quenten Doolittle Memorial Gallery Winter 2019 Exhibit! The Pumphouse Theatre is looking for photographic work from Calgary and Alberta artist to be displayed in their gallery from January 17th to March 9th, 2019. Call for Visual Arts Submissions: The Quenten Doolittle Memorial Gallery
Submissions are now open for The Quenten Doolittle Memorial Gallery Exhibit: What Lies Beneath – A Journey through Historic & Modern Calgary January 17th to March 9th, 2019.
The Pumphouse Theatre is a vibrant facility with historical significance supporting and presenting all art forms; and creating opportunities for engagement, enrichment, cultural experience, learning and inspiration serving all Calgarians. The Quenten Doolittle Memorial Gallery provides accessible wall display space for Calgary and Alberta visual artists to display and sell their work, free from commission.
For this exhibit, we are asking for photographic work that showcases the City of Calgary, either historically or contemporary. Submitted work must reflect the parts of the City which would be considered hidden, under-represented, or forgotten.
Submissions must meet the following requirements:
• Artist resides in Alberta and must be available for installation.
• Art must meet the criteria of the theme presented and meet the form of photography
• Artwork must be delivered ready to hang on our hanging system (wall-space only)
Installation Requirements: All art MUST be equipped with picture hanging wire and appropriately placed D ring hangers. Hanging cleats will not be accepted.

Selection Process: Art pieces are selected by a committee of no less than 3 people and are a mix of artists and administrators. Selection criteria is based on: suitability to the theme, artist’s technique, elicited emotional response, creativity & innovation, and suitability for the Pumphouse Theatre art gallery space and its patrons (ages 5-85 representing various socio-economic and cultural backgrounds)
