(We will be holding auditions for youth in January)

Medium Alison (mezzo-soprano)
Alison Bechdel at 19, a freshman at Oberlin College. Somewhat awkward, incredibly intelligent, and on the verge of something life changing. Medium Alison stumbles upon her own sexuality almost by accident when she meets Joan and falls madly in love.

Joan (alto)
Joan, a young adult, is a member of the Gay Student Union at Oberlin, where she meets Medium Alison. Confident, Joan is a self-identified lesbian who becomes Alison’s first sexual encounter and her first love. Joan is generous with her self-knowledge and strength, and helps Alison come into her own as a woman and as a lesbian.

Plain Jane Theatre is committed to inclusive casting. We encourage submissions from professional artists who self-identify as members of under-represented communities.
