Introduction to Clowning

In this four hour course students will learn the basic principles of clowning. Games will be played to encourage play, impulse and physicality. The students will then wear clown noses to begin the discovery of their own personal clown.
Instructor – Michael Kennard
Michael Kennard’s remarkable professional career as co-creator of the clown duo Mump & Smoot has included touring to international acclaim for over 30 years. Awards for Mump & Smoot include Dora Awards, Canadian Comedy Awards, L.A. Drama-Logue Awards and Boston Theatre Awards. Michael is an influential researcher in physical theatre at University of Alberta. He is also solo performer, director and collaborator of new theatrical productions.
