Setting: Present day. A ground breaking ceremony for a new downtown business in Silverton, BC (fictional mountain town).
Story: An entrepreneur’s new business gets thwarted when her grandmother reveals a family secret in public.
Synopsis: Family drama is on tap as the town gathers to witness Tina break ground for her new business. But a microbrewery doesn’t fit into the plans of Tina’s 104 year old grandmother who invokes her status as former President of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union and unearths some long held family secrets. The laughs flow and the surprises come to a head in this little piece.

Productions: The play was written at the Citadel’s 10-minute play writing course facilitated by Tracy Carroll and Conni Massing. A pubic reading was held. The play was first performed at Theatre Canmore’s 10- Minute Play Festivus: Theatre for the Rest of Us (March 2018). Judy McFerran starred as Sybella and Laura Raboud starred as Tina. David Cheoros directed this Northern Sabbatical Productions offering. The play was then performed at Stage Struck (Alberta Drama Festival Association) where it one best production and best new work. As the winner, it was performed at the Provincials in Fort McMurray. The play was then performed at Stage Struck (Alberta Drama Festival Association, April 2018) where Judy McFerran won a best performer award.

Linda has been producing her plays since 2005 including: Trail and Error (Edmonton 2016); Spring Alibi (Adelaide AU 2015; Edmonton 2005, 2014; Washington DC 2006; Yukon 2007; Saskatchewan 2012); Four in the Crib (2012, 2013, High River 2018); True Grid (2007, 2010); Support Ho’s (2009); Gibberish v. Genius (Canmore, Edmonton 2018); and Almost the Pioneer Brewing Company (Canmore, Edmonton, Fort McMurray 2018). Linda’s plays have garnered some sweet accolades including two Sterling nominations. Linda is a huge fan of the 10-minute play format.
