Red Deer College

Red Deer College has two open enrollment courses starting September to help you improve your speaking abilities!

Public Speaking – Instructor Tom Bradshaw

Do you want to gain confidence when you speak publically? This course will help you get that confidence, improve your speaking voice and show you have to build a presentation to maximize audience impact.

Tom Bradshaw – is an instructor in both the Theatre as well as the Motion Picture Arts programs at RDC. He holds both an MFA (Acting) and GTD (Voice & Speech Training) from York University, Toronto & LTCL (Voice & Speech Education) Trinity College London, England. He is a member of two international organizations VASTA (Voice and Speech Trainers Association) U.S.A. and STSD (Society of Teachers of Speech & Drama) U.K.

Tom also works as an executive coach and trainer in presentation skills for Voice Power (Toronto) and has coached executives in such diverse industries as marketing, construction and insurance. He has also spoken at a number of conferences across Western Canada and was part of the training team for a TV pilot changing the lives for Canadian executives called The Transformers.

On-Camera Acting Intensives – Level I – Instructor Glen Gaston

Designed for both beginners and novices of the Pro Actors Lab acting system, this course identifies the practical building blocks needed to be a successful actor and provides you with the opportunity to apply and stabilize the techniques in a studio environment. Explore exercises designed to develop “authentic listening” skills while identifying and playing in “present tense”. Using material from theatre, film and television, this acting fundamentals course will give you the skills needed in how to get “present” “breakdown” a script, identify scene “icons”, focus on “objectives”, actions and “tactics“ as well as how to develop a sense of personal connection with the camera and reveal the truth in the moment.
