Play Synopsis:
Jay Gatsby, a self-made millionaire, passionately pursues the elusive Daisy Buchanan. Nick Carraway, a young newcomer to Long Island, is drawn into their world of obsession, greed and danger. The breathtaking glamour and decadent excess of the Jazz Age come to the stage in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel, and in Simon Levy’s adaptation, approved by the Fitzgerald Estate.
Casting Requirements
Ages 16-70; all genders and ethnicities.
In addition to the named roles, we will also be having an ensemble of performers/dancers who will be multiple roles in the show. (10 M/F/X)
Jay Gatsby – A romantic idealist, with a disarming smile (M, 25-35)
Nick Carraway – A kind face, gentle manner (M, 24-30)
Daisy Buchanan – A voice that sounds like money (F, 24-30)
Jordan Baker – An athlete (F, 24-30)
Tom Buchanan – Powerful and cruel (M, 30-40)
George Wilson – Myrtle’s husband, Spiritless (M, 30-40)
Myrtle Wilson – George’s wife, Tom’s mistress, sensual (F, 18-40)
Audition Requirements:
You will come in in groups of 10 to do cold reads from the script and participate in a group movement portion.
Please come prepared to move. Wear comfortable clothing (yoga or active attire is encouraged). For footwear please wear an athletic runner. If you own character shoes, those are encouraged, but not required.
