News (Alberta): ALL IN Update – June 2018

Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT)

A MESSAGE FROM SARA MEURLING, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF PACT, ON JUNE 11, 2018:

ALL IN is a national initiative with regional cohorts from across the country participating in introductory training in anti-oppressive practice and receiving resources, consultation, and coaching as part of a two-year program for organizational development and change. The program has launched in Toronto, Ontario, Vancouver, and Alberta in partnership with the Toronto Alliance for the Performing ArtsTheatre OntarioGreater Vancouver Professional Theatre Alliance, and Theatre Alberta respectively. Theatre Alberta has received support from the Edmonton Community FoundationCalgary Foundation, and Rozsa Foundation to provide the program to Albertan theatre artists and administrators.

Most recently in Alberta, an introductory cohort workshop lead by Michele Decottignies was held in Calgary on April 3 & 4, with 19 participants from 13 theatre companies. Unfortunately, Ms. Decottignies experienced health issues and the Edmonton introductory workshop, originally scheduled for April 12 & 13, was postponed. ALL IN Alberta also included gatherings hosted by Ad Hoc Assembly for formerly marginalized theatre community members alongside the cohort workshops in Calgary and Edmonton, to help inform content and share information about / goals for the program.

PACT recently welcomed Ashley Bomberry to the role of ALL IN Program Coordinator, and the program’s larger planning and leadership team is working on various program and curriculum modifications due to staffing changes and feedback received from cohorts across the country. We are looking forward to scheduling the first meeting of the Edmonton cohort for this fall, and the next steps (including organizational self-assessments) for the other cohorts in the coming weeks.”
