Europe, 1939. In the face of the Nazi threat, Canadian millionaire William Stephenson convinces Churchill and Roosevelt to fight the Nazis using unconventional or “guerilla” war tactics. Stephenson assembles an elite team of spies to work covertly behind enemy lines. Included amongst his recruits: a dedicated group of young women, unofficial soldiers in the war against fascism. THE INVISIBLE – Agents of Ungentlemanly Warfare is their story, a “spy noir musical” that seeks to answer the question: “What are you ready to die for?” from the perspective of five young women who were ready to fight to the death for the world they wanted to live in.

“The Leader”
One female, female identifying, or non-binary person. Age: 40-55. A senior intelligence officer working for the Allies during WWII. An Eastern European aristocrat and heiress, forced by the war to emigrate. Well-connected and used to having status but neither spoiled nor afraid of hard work. Enigmatic and secretive – plays her cards close, which serves her in her work as a senior intelligence officer. Highly intelligent and capable, organized and meticulous, discreet and immensely loyal. A cool pragmatist on the outside but underneath, a caring person of deep feelings and beliefs.

“The Spies”
Multiple female, female identifying, or non-binary people. Age: 20-35. Single women recruited by the Allies to work as secret agents during WWII. Young women with deep convictions and a desire to change the world. Fiercely committed but not without doubt, brave but not without fear. Determined and ready to fight for what they believe. Loyal and dedicated to their colleagues. From a range of educational backgrounds, social classes and ethnicities, but each with a keen mind and a passionate heart.
