Play Synopsis:

On March 25, 1911. 4:45 P.M. a brutal fire erupts in In the Triangle Waist Factory off downtown Manhattan’s Washington Square. The culprit, a cigarette tossed into a bin of fabric scraps. Despite desperate efforts, flames sweep through the eighth, ninth and tenth floors. Panic-stricken workers (mostly immigrant women) of all different backgrounds, cultures, ethnicity and communities run in all directions. On the ninth floor, some make it to the fire escape, some do not. Some are trapped, locked, their fates sealed. THE TRIANGLE FACTORY FIRE PROJECT uses eyewitness accounts, court transcripts and other archival material to create a dramatic moment-by-moment account of this historic fire and the social upheaval that followed.

Casting Requirements

Ages 16-70; all genders and ethnicities.

6-10 women to play 12-15 roles (2 constant, 3+ multiple)
9-12 men to play 18-24 roles (3 constant, 6+ multiple)

Audition Requirements:

You will come in in groups of 5. Please prepare a short 2 minute (max) dramatic monologue. Please choose a piece that has been published. Do not use one you have written.

There will also be some script readings.

Please bring the following to the Audition:

• Headshot
• Resume
• Any conflicts with rehearsal dates including vacations, concerts, and jobs.

Callback requirements

Scenes will be provided for on-book auditions. There is also a movement component. Please come dressed to move.

Rehearsals begin on July 24 and run Tuesday/Thursday nights (7-10 pm), Sunday afternoons (1-5 pm).

N.B. ACTORS CANNOT DO THIS SHOW AND ALSO BE IN A FRINGE SHOW.

Tech week begins October 1; be prepared to be in the theatre every night.
