L’UniThéâtre is holding auditions for their upcoming production of Paula Humby’s Theatre for Young Audience play, Élise contre l’extinction totale.
In her science class, Élise learns that the Earth’s atmosphere is warming up at an alarming rate, with icebergs melting and 16,306 species currently at risk of going extinct. What can she do to protect the environment from total destruction? This play touches on themes of friendship, teamwork and nature conservation.
Auditions will take place Wednesday May 23rd in the small studio of La Girandole (in La Cité francophone, 8627 91st) between 9am and 5pm. Please note your availability with your submission. Sides will be provided when your audition time is confirmed.
Directed by Joëlle Préfontaine, rehearsals will take place in Edmonton January 21st to Februray 8th, with performances in the theatre of La Cité francophone February 13th to 16th, 2019. This production will tour elementary schools and theatres in Alberta, British-Columbia and Saskatchewan from February 19th to May 3rd 2019.
Applicants must be fluent in French and be available for the entirety of this period. The successful candidate will have to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check.
Casting for the following roles:
Élise: A driven fifth grader who is worried about the environment and knows she needs to take action.
Amal: Her best friend. He is fun, energetic and caring.
Madame Langevin: Their science teacher. Quirky, passionate and has a tremendous love for tying performance into learning.
