Auditions (Calgary): DIY Theatre’s Time Stands Still

 

DIY Theatre is excited to announce auditions for their 2017/2018 closing show, Time Stands Still written by Donald Margulies and directed by Shelby Nicole.

Auditions will be held Motel Theatre Thursday, April 19th 2:30 – 5pm and Saturday, April 21st 1-5pm

Synopsis of play:

Conflicts are never cool, wounds leave scars, experiences shape you.

When Sarah and her boyfriend, James, come back from covering the Iraq War, they are physically bruised and emotionally beaten.

While recovering, their best friend, Richard brings his new, young girlfriend to visit. Their burgeoning relationship makes James and Sarah examine their own relationship and way of life.

Is it possible for two people who are used to living in dangerous conditions to carve out a normal life? Can they stay together amidst unspoken betrayals and conflicting ideals?

Characters:

Sarah – 30-40’s A photographer who returns to New York injured after spending years in Iraq covering the war
James – 30s-40s Sarah’s partner, A journalist determined to settle in New York after years in Iraq
Richard – late 30s-late 40’s – an editor, best friend to Sarah and James
Mandy – early 20’s – an event planner, Richard’s new girlfriend
