Alberta Theatre Projects’ new season includes a sequel,
a classic and two premieres

Alberta Theatre Projects may be in flux but the company is forging ahead with a season the remaining administration feels is one of its strongest in years.

ATP has lost both of its previous administrators, Vanessa Porteous and Vicki Stroich, and is currently searching for a new artistic director so Ashley Meller, the company’s director of marketing and communications, announced ATP’s 2018/2019 season.

Meller says the new season of five plays includes “an eagerly awaited sequel, a Tony Award-winning classic, two world premieres and a new partnership.”

Kicking off the season is The Virgin Trial, the second play in Governor General Award-winning playwright Kate Hennig’s Queenmaker Trilogy. It is the sequel to The Last Wife, the story of the tumultuous relationship of King Henry VIII and his last wife, Katherine Parr, which was a box office and critical hit for ATP last season.
