Gravity Call for Submissions – deadline March 23rd
All Edmonton and area artists, of all performance disciplines, ethnicities and genders are invited to submit proposals to contribute original works to GRAVITY: A CABARET of ART and POLITICS to be held on MONDAY MAY 7, 2018 at the Westbury Theatre Edmonton.
After the previous success of GRAVITY, Theatre Yes will join forces with Greenpeace Edmonton and APIRG (Alberta Public Interest Research Group) to create a third ad hoc, one-night-only, cabaret for art that comments on our current times. We invite artists of all experiences and mediums. We invite all intersections and strong opinions. We are looking for short original, audacious, cabaret works: sketches, monologues, stand up comedy, songs, political satire, dance, burlesque, interactive performances, installations, films, hybrid art forms, etc. approximately 10 minutes in length, which fearlessly address one of the many red hot political issues happening NOW.
We strive to curate an event that represents a wide diversity of ethnicity, gender, sexuality, ability, politic, issue, and artistic practice. Community, non-professional and professional artists are welcome.
Please send a one-page description of what you’d like to do, including your technical requirements, and a short biography outlining your artistic background to info@theatre-yes.ca by March 23rd by 4PM.
