2018 SEASON AUDITIONS

Thou Art Here is holding auditions for three of its upcoming 2018 productions. Please read the requirements/role descriptions for each production before applying.

*Thou Art Here Theatre is committed to inclusive casting. We strongly encourage submissions from professional and emerging artists who identify as members of under-represented communities.

1. But Hark, A Voice! by Ben Stevens
Directed by Neil Kuefler
June 19 – July 15, 2018 | Presented at the Freewill Shakespeare Festival

Rehearsals: May – June (part-time)
Casting the following roles:
Bottom, Flute, Peter Quince, Snug, Puck, Fairy
Show Description: A roving rehearsal of repertory rejects! Shakespeare’s Mechanicals from A Midsummer Night’s Dream are rehearsing their new play premiering at this year’s Shakespeare festival. Unfortunately, they have no idea what they’re doing. They need your help to impress the festival director before the fairies of Hawrelak park ruin the show!

2. Puppet Shows: Hamlet & The Comedy of Errors by Alyson Dicey
Directed by Alyson Dicey
June 19 – July 15, 2018 | Presented at the Freewill Shakespeare Festival

Rehearsals: May – June (part-time)
Casting the following roles:
Puppeteers, Musicians, & Performers
Show Description: Heading down to the Freewill Shakespeare Festival this summer? Looking for something fun to do before the show begins? Grab some refreshments and let Thou Art Here Theatre introduce you to the play through a fun and interactive puppet adaptation. This 15-minute primer will get the whole family excited about the upcoming show!
*Note this is separate call from the previous SCiP audition call. The production will involve two student interns and two contract artists (which could be students).

3. Shakespeare’s Will by Vern Thiessen
Directed by Andrew Ritchie | Choreography by Gianna Vacirca
September 19 – 30, 2018 | Presented at the historic 1886 Edmonton Cemetery

Rehearsals: August 27 – September 18, 2018
Casting the following roles:
Anne Hathaway, a woman of indeterminate age (4 roles)
Movement/dance experience required. Ability to play an acoustic instrument is an asset.
Show Description: Enter the cemetery and meet Anne Hathaway, the wife of William Shakespeare. Dance, music, and theatre merge in an interdisciplinary play staged for the first time in the historic 1886 Edmonton Cemetery. Shakespeare’s Will provides a voice to one of the most silent characters in literary history and asks: How will you be remembered?

AUDITION TIMES (Auditions will be scheduled in 10 minute slots)
Friday February 16 6:00pm – 10:00pm
Saturday February 17 10:00am – 6:00pm
Sunday February 18 10:00am – 3:00pm
Sunday February 18 3:00pm – 6:00pm Dance Call (20 minute group slots)

AUDITION LOCATION
Citadel Theatre’s Foote Theatre School Classrooms (Entrance through Shoctor Alleyway)

Audition Requirements:
1 contemporary monologue, 1 Shakespeare monologue, Musical instrument and song (optional)

Shakespeare’s Will is an Equity Collective Artist Policy production and we will see both equity and non-equity members. But Hark, A Voice & Puppet Shows are both paid, non-equity roles.

Please note: If you have performed with Thou Art Here Theatre in the past three seasons you may not receive an audition slot, however you may still be considered for all applicable roles. Due to limited time, not all applicants will receive an audition slot.
