Mile Zero Dance is a non-profit charitable dance company based in Edmonton, AB, with a 1200 square foot studio and 600 square foot gallery/front space that is programmed throughout the year. Situated in Little Italy, MZD is interested in performance work that pushes boundaries and expectations, especially dance, body, or movement based work. For our next season, Sept-May 2018-19, we are seeking artists from a wide variety of backgrounds for:
- Short Multidisciplinary Acts, 10 minutes or less, for cabaret situations. Artists should prepare a video clip (online), short bio, and a description of work to be presented. Any media considered. (ongoing). (Feb 15/18)
- Curators for performance, who will be involved in selecting other artists, and planning and/or hosting, as well as showing their own work. CV/artist statement/samples of work. (Feb 15/18)
- Dance Crush 2018-19. MZD is seeking artists for full-length studio evenings (could be shared). Two artists from outside of Edmonton will be featured. Artists should have movement as their primary focus, and be willing to engage in some form of Outreach beyond their presentation. Artists will have access to MZD’s Spazio Performativo studio, storefront gallery space and technical resources, however limited. Artists should send cv, bio, description of work (max 1 pg) and samples of work. (Feb 15/18)
- Visual Art: works to be considered for our Spazio Performativo storefront space, mainly two dimensional work, but could also include projection, small sculpture, or performance/installation work. Your submission package should include 5-10 good quality images (jpeg only) of your most recent work/work to be included, an artist statement/bio, a CV, your project description/proposal and an image list (including titles, dimensions, medium, date, price).
