What’s On (Edmonton): SOILED DOVES A Burlesque With Boots On- Send in the Girls Burlesque

Send in the Girls Burlesque presents the world premiere of
SOILED DOVES: A Burlesque With Boots On
playing at the ATB Financial Arts Barns Backstage Theatre as part of the Fringe Spotlight Series
January 18-27, 2018

How about a tall tale before the campfire goes out? Let’s raise a glass for women who took what’s theirs, who made the rules when laws were few. Let’s give a cheers for the women who bet it all on red and painted the town the same colour. And here’s a toast for the women who stuck up for themselves even while looking down the barrel of certain death. And pour one out for the women who kicked up dust, the trouble they made, they did with flare.”

Join the award-winning, sold out fringe festival favourites Send in the Girls Burlesque for their brand of satirical sass, gorgeous girl power and history loving heroics as they buckle up their britches for an evening that is highly theatrical, explosively musical and wickedly clever burlesque. Following in the footsteps of “Tudor Queens: A Burlesque,” “A Brontë Burlesque,” “Shakespeare’s Sirens: A Burlesque Revue,” and this past summer’s “With Glowing Hearts: A Canadian Burlesque Revue,” Send in the Girls Burlesque’s new play SOILED DOVES: A Burlesque with Boots On tells the little known stories of Josie Bassett, Kitty LeRoy, Belle Starr and Pearl Hart – footnotes in the cowboy stories told by campfires, but legitimate thieves, outlaws, and even law-abidin’ citizens in their own rights.
