ABOUT THE PLAY:
The Art of Disappearing by Stephanie Walker explores an area of mental health known as early-onset Alzheimer’s. This disease strikes the middle-aged and has a devastating effect on both the victim and their families. In this heartbreaking story, Walker captures the struggles and upheavals of a family attempting to heal old wounds, while their lives are being torn apart by the new intruder in the house.
CHARACTERS:
Charlotte (45-55): Successful career woman thrown into realy retirement due to early on-set Alzheimer’s. In denial and fighting to avoid confronting her disease.
Henry (45-55): Husband of Charlotte, also in denial. A loving father desperate to build bridges between Charlotte and his daughter MelissaWife of Shamrayev and mother of Masha. Has a long running love affair with Dorn. Unhappy in life and love, wishes to run away and start life anew with Dorn.
Melissa (20’s): A struggling artist, addictive personality and compulsive liar. Has been enstranged from her mother for the last two years.
Jack (20-30): Melissa’s boyfriend. Supportive of her art.
AUDITION DETAILS
Equity members will be seen first at auditions, and all cast members will be engaged under an Equity contract.
Audition dates: Saturday 6th January 2018 from 1-5 pm (video submissions possible for those out of town over the holiday period).
Rehearsal dates: to be confirmed.
Production dates: Late July-early August
