Play Between Your Thighs PRODUCTIONS
is seeking two actors, a director and two trans-consultants (ideally with background in media relations, performing arts production, public education) for their premiere production of:
TRANSFORMANCE: A Transgender Love Story with Songs
running multiple dates through March 19 – 30 / 2018 at the Pumphouse Theatre and Café Koi in Calgary
SCHEDULE: Rehearsals will begin the first week of February 2018 and will run most Tuesdays and Thursday evenings (6:30-9:30) with some weekends (some flexibility).
Play Between Your Thighs PRODUCTIONS is an adventurous new theatre group in Calgary.
A nominal honorarium will be paid to director, actors and musicians, with all profits donated to Skipping Stone Foundation in Calgary www.skippingstone.ca
CHARACTERS:
- MACK (assigned Mallory at birth) Sambor, a 22-year-old retail clerk / activist
To appear as well established trans male - ANGELICA (assigned Axel at birth) Edmundson, a 19-year-old student
To appear as transitioning trans female
Despite being a “ONE ACT MUSICAL” these are very demanding roles which require skilled singing and an ability to effectively deliver emotionally charged adult themed monologues.
Brief description
Mack inadvertently rescues Angelica at a LGBTQ+ rally. This brief encounter evolves into a tumultuous relationship. Both share a life long struggle with gender identity and are in the process of transitioning. Their drug addled love story is raw and unsettling. Built with interwoven monologues and songs, TRANSFORMANCE challenges our universal desire to grow and be loved, to be understood and belong.
OPEN AUDITIONS will be held at 10:00 – 5 :00 pm on Saturday Jan 20 and Sunday Jan 21 / 2018
-expect to read excerpts from script and be prepared to sing
