Hello members of the theatre community of Edmonton!

In response to recent events, and to join a wider conversation started by members of the femme/non-binary/trans community, Theatre Edmonton Project & SACE (Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton) are hosting a conversation for masc & male identifying members of the Edmonton theatre community to discuss issues regarding abuses of power and sexual violence within the industry.

WHERE: The Arts Barns – Studio Theatre
WHEN: Monday December 4, 2017 – Doors @ 6pm, Discussion @ 6:30pm

In this meeting, SACE will lead a discussion covering key topics: having knowledge, skills and confidence to prevent sexual violence, and how to put the needs of those impacted by sexual violence first when listening to and supporting them. There will also be space for a guided free-form conversation to express and decompress emotions.

This discussion is being built to be the beginning of a wider discussion for members of the masc community where future meetups can feature guest speakers, workshops and inclusive discussions to better the theatre community as a whole. If you are looking to engage with other masc identifying individuals to share ideas for how to support the larger arts community and beyond we invite you to attend this meetup. 

PLEASE NOTE: This conversation on Monday December 4th is intended for male and masculine identifying members of the community. A meeting that will bring together people of all expressions is being planned for Thursday December 7.
