Interested Performers Should:

  • Familiarize themselves with previous Ghost River Theatre productions
  • Be able to engage in physically demanding work
  • Be open to a collaborative creation process that will span multiple phases
  • Identify and present as a woman/on the feminine spectrum

Deadline to Submit: Thursday, November 23, 2017

Audition Date: Monday, November 27, 2017 (Calgary). If you are unable to attend this date/city, alternative arrangements may be available. Please indicate this in your submission.

Workshop Dates: June 18 – July 8, 2018 at the West Village Theatre (Calgary)

Rehearsal and Performance Window: February 4 – March 24, 2019 (Calgary)

To submit, please email a headshot, resume, and cover letter (especially highlighting any wrestling, fight, physical theatre, and puppet training/experience). Email your submission to play@ghostrivertheatre.com with subject line: GIANT Auditions.

About the Audition: Due to the nature of our devised theatre creation methodology, auditions will include a combination of text from the play and performer-created material.

Please have prepared a moment in Andre’s life, either real or imagined, that has some connection to who he became. The piece should be built with the theatrical language of animated object (use at least one everyday object – not a created puppet – as a character). Your object(s) should undergo at least one transformation. The piece must also demonstrate your physical/movement ability and use the theatrical language of scale – consider the size of things in relation to each other and how those relationships convey meaning.

Length: 2-3 minutes

Other text might be provided from the play for the actor to read. This will be given out at the time of the audition.

A reading draft of the play will be made available for those who are chosen to audition.

Performers from diverse cultural backgrounds and abilities are encouraged to apply. Please note, only those selected for an audition will be contacted.
