News (Alberta): David Chantler Receives 2017 Rozsa Award

Rozsa Foundation

The Rozsa Foundation is pleased to announce David Chantler, Producing Director of Trickster Theatre, as the recipient of the 2017 Rozsa Award for Excellence in Arts Management.

Originally a theatre that focused on shows and touring them, Trickster Theatre changed its business model to producing school and community residency programs in 1989. Over the past 28 years, David Chantler has produced more than 700 week-long residencies which has included over 200,000 Albertans as artist participants.

Keenly aware of the value of arts-based learning since the beginning, Chantler has expanded the theatre’s programming over the years to include science and literacy initiatives such as Act2Learn and Theatre In Literacy, and the highly successful Kids Go Global platform: “a place for Elementary, Junior and Senior High schools to explore Global Issues and then take action locally and internationally”.

Theatre Alberta would also like to congratulate David and Trickster Theatre as well as the other nominees: JP Thibodeau, Managing Artistic Director of StoryBook Theatre in Calgary, as well as Carol Holmes the Executive Director of The Writers’ Guild of Alberta, a sister Provincial Arts Service Organization!
