Calgary’s Theatre Disponibilité proudly presents 9 Circles
Written by Bill Cain
Directed by Josephine Christensen
Produced by Erin Noble and Madeleine Taylor-Gregg
Featuring: Brian Martell, Caleb Gordon and Kayla Bigras.
By turns shocking, mesmerizing and bitingly funny, 9 Circles follows the journey of Private Reeves as he struggles with the consequences of moral injury inflicted during the war in Iraq. This taut and insightful drama which questions accountability, the effects of trauma and the human cost of war, drives towards a shattering conclusion in which the infinite size and tremendous power of a young man’s soul is revealed.
This production features an all Calgarian cast, and is supported by the following creative team: Travis McKinnon (sound design), Melike Ceylan (composition), Chloe Mahon (light design), Lata Periakarpan (set design) and Margaret Taylor (costume).
9 Circles was developed at the Ojai Playwrights Conference,
Robert Egan, Artistic Director and South Coast Repertory’s Pacific Playwrights Festival, Martin
Benson and David Emmes, Producing Artistic Directors.
Winner of the 2010 Sky Cooper New American Play Prize at Marin Theatre Company, where it
received its world premiere under the leadership of
Jasson Minadakis, Artistic Director and Ryan Rilette, Producing Director.
