The City of St. Albert’s Cultural Services department works with artists, audiences, volunteers and other cultural stakeholders to deliver superior events, programs, services and facilities creating a community where people want to live, work, and visit. The Cultural Services department connects to the community through the Arden Theatre, the International Children’s Festival and St. Albert Children’s Theatre, festivals and events.
We are looking for an experienced Production Coordinator to join our team in a new permanent position. The Production Coordinator is responsible for the overall production and coordination of technical elements of special events, performances and festivals produced and supported by the Cultural Services department. This includes ongoing oversight of the technical operations of performances and events at the Arden Theatre and other Cultural Services facilities.
Reporting to the Cultural Facilities Manager, the Production Coordinator will develop and implement production budgets, schedules and plans, coordinate equipment, supplies, vendors, and appropriate permits to ensure the high level production of department external events. The Production Coordinator is responsible for ensuring adherence to Health and Safety, and other City policies and procedures. The Production Coordinator contributes to the Arden Theatre lifecycle plan including overseeing annual maintenance, capital equipment and assets. This position has a key role in the planning and execution of the Northern Alberta International Children’s Festival and the St. Albert Children’s Theatre and other events.
The Production Coordinator oversees the Technical Director, and provides leadership to the team of theatre technicians. We are looking for an individual with a comprehensive knowledge of event planning and production coordination, including sound, lighting, video, rigging, temporary structures and staging. This role will draw on your abilities to work collaboratively, plan, problem solve, negotiate and multi-task.
HOURS OF WORK
We offer a compressed work schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (standard schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 with a regular day off every two weeks). This position will need to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings or weekends. Some overtime may be required during events such as the International Children’s Festival.
COMPENSATION
$83,041 – $101,033 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a generous and comprehensive flexible benefit package.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in a related field with 5-7 years experience, or Diploma in related field with 10 years work experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in events or production management, with experience working on large scale events preferred.
- Experience in supervising permanent and casual employees as well as providing leadership to contractors and suppliers.
- Prior experience working in a municipal environment is considered an asset.
- Experience with event budgeting, financial and asset management, including project charters, capital asset planning and RMR planning/implementation. Experience in negotiating contracts and agreements and working with contractors in the theatre industry is an asset.
- C.I.T.T. membership is considered an asset.
- Proficient user of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), AutoCAD, as well as internal programs such as Agresso or IntelliLeisure.
- A valid Class 5 drivers licence and Standard First Aid certification are required. Fall Arrest, Fork lift and High lift certificates a benefit.
