Audition (Calgary): 9 Circles – Theatre Disponibilité

Based on true events, 9 Circles by Bill Cain tells the shocking story of a soldier accused and incarcerated for war atrocities after his tour of duty in Iraq. Still suffering from Post Traumatic Stress, Reeves soon discovers that the psychological battle to recover his soul is as horrific and terrifying as the military war in the Triangle of Death. This play will run at the Motel Arts Commons, from November 21 – 25, 2017. All roles are paid and rehearsals will commence October 30.

  • DANIEL EDWARD REEVES: (Lead Male late teens/early 20s) – This is an extremely demanding role requiring emotional depth, vulnerability and a strong acting technique. Reeves requires nuanced performance of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder; this character though physically and mentally on edge must be able to convey a good sense of humour and sharp intelligence. The role also requires emotional openness and applicants must be comfortable with full nudity which is used symbolically at two moments in the play. Older actors will be considered who can convincingly play 19-20 years old.
  • MALE ACTOR: This is a multi-character role covering an age range of 30 – 50 years. The characters are, an Army Lieutenant, Lawyer for Defense, Army Attorney and the Pastor. This actor plays in four scenes (3×2 Hander, 1×3 hander).
  • FEMALE ACTOR: This is a multi-character role covering an age range of 25 – 45 years. The characters are, a young public defender, an army psychiatrist, and the Lawyer for prosecution. This actor plays in three scenes (2×2 handers, 1x3hander).
