Director, Caring Services
iHuman Youth Society is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mission is to serve marginalized youth to promote their reconnection to the community through programming and services involving crisis intervention, arts mentorship, and life skills development.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director, Caring Services will lead and manage iHuman’s Caring Services offerings. Services include but are not limited to outreach, crisis intervention and advocacy work for youth provided by the Outreach Services Team; mental health, crisis intervention and advocacy for youth provided by the LiNKS Mental Health Clinic; and other primary health care or social services provided in partnership with external agencies such as the Boyle McCauley Health Centre or other possible service providers. The Director works closely with the Executive Director in developing new revenue streams to include cross-sector investment in solutions to social issues. The Director is responsible for all Caring Services administrative, fiscal, resource and risk management functions and as a member of the leadership team, contributes to the over-all effectiveness of strategies, policies and practices to ensure the operational excellence of the agency. The Director must display both front line youth work skills and professional management skills in delivering services and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Social Work, Justice or Human Services with professional designation preferred. Equivalencies may be considered.
- 5-7 years’ management experience, which includes leading and managing staff teams and case management preferably within the non-profit, social services sector
- Proven success in developing and delivering social services and programs for traumatized youth
- Experience in administrative, fiscal and resource management; risk management
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge/experience in grant management and preparation
- Professional demeanour demonstrated by experience effectively responding to situations with astuteness and composure, maintaining confidentiality as required
- Demonstrated initiative, excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
- Knowledge of community resources, government policies and programs
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and/or with other inner city populations
- Proven track record in effectively managing conflicting priorities, collaborating with others and exercising sound judgment within a team environment
- Preference will be extended to candidates who have a passion for the Arts
- Supervisory experience and/or training
- Computer competency with Mac and PC
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week. Some evening and weekend hours required.
Remuneration: $48,750.00 – $68,250.00
