Auditions (Edmonton): Showtime on Broadway – Broadway Bound

 

Broadway Bound is based in Edmonton and is a registered Alberta Society providing performing opportunities for youth, teens and adults of all ages. The 2017-2018 season includes a full length musical review titled, Showtime on Broadway highlighting well known (and not so well known) Broadway Musicals.

Open auditions will take place on Sunday September 17, 2017 at the Ruth Carse Centre, 11205 107 Avenue, Edmonton

Rehearsals will take place on Fridays from 6PM till 9PM (commencing September 22) and Sundays from 1PM till 5PM (commencing September 24). Not all cast members will be required to attend all rehearsals but need to be available. A schedule will be provided at a later date.

Production Dates:
Dress/Tech – Friday January 5th, 2018
Matinee & Evening Performances – Saturday January 6th & Sunday January 7th, 2018
 

CASTING:

Singers and/or Dancers (with acting ability and the love of performing)
Youth (8 to 12 yrs of age)
Teens (13 to 17 yrs of age)
Adults (all ages)

Soloists and Ensemble cast members will be required for various roles within musicals including, but not limited to:

  • West Side Story – Maria & Friends (Female teens to mid-30’s) – Gang Members (Male Teens to mid 30’s)
  • The Wizard of Oz – (Male/Female 10 – 17 yrs)
  • Oklahoma – Farmhands & Families (Male/Female Youth, Teens and Adults to 70 yrs)
  • Annie – Annie (soloist youth to early teens) – Orphans (youth to early teens)
  • Me & My Girl – Lead Male (late teens to mid-30’s) – Pearly Kings & Queens (Male/Female Teens to Adults ages 30 – 70 yrs)
  • Oliver – Lead Male (youth to early teen) – Pickpockets/Street Urchins (Boys & Girls youth & teens) – Pub Locals (Male/Female adults 30 – 70 yrs) – Nancy & Barmaids (Female older teen to mid 30’s) – Mr. Bumble (Male 30 to 50 yrs.)
  • Matilda – Matilda & Schoolkids Male/Female Youth to early teens)
  • Easter Parade – (Male/Female Teens to mid-40’s)

We will also be looking to select a Dance Captain and Stage Manager.

AUDITION PREPARATION:

  • Singers – a solo piece (preferably from a musical) – please bring sheet music for accompanist
  • Dancers – a solo piece (genre of your choice) – please bring suitable recorded music)
    If you are a Singer & Dancer – both of the above

Please pre-register by email to doreen.c@shaw.ca by September 12, 2017 and provide a brief bio and headshot (does not need to be a professional headshot).

Male/Female Late Teens/Adults specifically interested in auditioning as chorus/ensemble members in Oklahoma, Oliver, Easter Parade & Me & My Girl – group movement and/or group vocal will be set on the audition day.
