Artists in School Residency Program 2017
Quest Theatre will be conducting interviews to add new artists/instructors to its Artists in School Residency Program Roster.
Quest Theatre is interested in artists/instructors who are passionate about sharing their creative process and love of theatre with young people. Artists/Instructors who bring a diverse perspective to the company are of particular interest. We welcome artists of various races, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, and ability, as these represent the audience we serve. Artists who are skilled in various storytelling styles or possess special skills (dance, music, theatre, French, sign language, puppetry, projection, playwriting, directing etc.) are encouraged to apply.
About Artists in School Residency Program:
Quest Theatre typically does between 15 and 20 residencies per school year. Residencies are typically 5 days, Monday to Friday, 8 hours/day. A team of artists are chosen to conduct a residency. Artists/Instructors are responsible for performance creation, communication with teachers, team building, gathering students ideas, exploring imagination, drama games, rehearsal and blocking, organizing necessary props, costumes, sound and lighting cues, unload, set up and striking Quest Set, praising and celebrating students creation.
Schools choose from several types of residencies: abridged versions of Shakespeare plays, collections of found stories, or custom themes chosen by the school. All students are included regardless of physical, mental or emotional challenges.
Paid orientation workshops in September, and paid opportunities for shadowing other artists/instructors, are provided to nurture new artists/instructors into the program. All residency artist/instructors will be asked to conduct and pass criminal record background checks to work in the school system.
