VERTIGO THEATRE JOB POSTING:
F/T Marketing and Communications Associate
Reports directly to the Marketing & Communications Manager
HOURS:
Full-time 40-hour work-week Monday to Friday, with some evenings and weekends required
COMPENSATION:
$35,000-$38,000 based on experience
Benefit Plan expense co-share between Employer/Employee
3-Month Probation Period
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Vertigo Theatre is looking for an innovative story-teller to add to our marketing team. You will excel in this position if you are a creative thinker who can quickly identify marketing and community engagement opportunities, have excellent research skills, enjoy creating marketing and communication pieces in print, social media and web based applications. The Marketing and Communications Associate is integral to the department, directly supporting the department manager and acting as an ambassador both internally and externally. Our ideal candidate is highly engaging, personable, thoughtful, and a natural leader.
ABOUT VERTIGO THEATRE:
Vertigo Theatre has entertained audiences for over 40 years with high quality programming, evolving into a truly unique organization. We are located at the base of the Calgary Tower, which is home to our administration and ticket offices as well as our two performance venues. We program the BD&P Mystery Theatre Series and are also home to a variety of arts organizations that rent our performance venues throughout the regular theatre season. Our diverse audience includes young adults to urban professionals and seniors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the creation, execution, and reporting related to annual marketing and
communications programs and campaigns - Write and edit a variety of internal and external documents and communications
including: e-newsletter, house programs, internal marketing and communications briefs etc. - Maintenance of various department databases and calendars
- Distribute listings of Vertigo Theatre productions to event sites/listings
- Work closely with the Ticket Office Managerto analyze, track, and report on ticket sales
- Management and creation of online tools: social media presence and the Vertigo Theatre Website
- Plan various special and value-added events held throughout the season
- Liaise with vendors (such as media and printing partners) and the general public on behalf of the department
- Oversee on-site signage and displays
- Distribute, manage and maintain Opening Night invite lists
- Conduct industry and competitive intelligence research
- Various administrative duties related to the management of the department
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Marketing & Communications Manager
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of 1 year of professional experience
- Post-secondary certificate or degree in a related field
- Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent working knowledge in digital, social and email marketing
- Excellent working knowledge using Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Indesign
and Photoshop - Basic web editing knowledge
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Superior written and interpersonal communications skills
- Tactical event planning/management experience
- Ability to take direction and work in a fast-paced environment
- Keen interest in arts and culture
