Full-time Theatre Technician | Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications

OPPORTUNITY
The Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications (FFAC) of MacEwan University is recruiting for a full-time continuing position of Theatre Technician, with an audio focus. The Theatre Technician maintains performance spaces and equipment ready for users; monitors user activities; and provides technical services in support of internal and external user productions as required in lighting, sound, rigging, etc. The Theatre Technician is accountable for the provision of technical support for performance spaces, ensuring that spaces operate safely and in the manner intended; and for the maintenance of performance spaces. Evening and weekend work is required.
SKILLS
The successful candidate will be proficient in the mixing of live sound on a digital sound console and the use of Protools. The technician must be able to read and produce technical drawings, preferably using AutoCAD or VectorWorks. Some experience as a lighting technician is required. Other desirable experience: AVID series consoles; ETC EOS family console software; and recording studio operation. This position requires attention to detail and above average verbal and written communication skills. The Theatre Technician must have the ability to act as a professional role model. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the educational process and how this role supports the process.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have a 2-year diploma in Technical Theatre or a related field, or equivalent professional experience; Standard First Aid, including CPR and AED; and two to three years of technical theatre experience with a focus on audio related duties.
