On Friday, May 19, Theatre Alberta will provide access to the award winning production of The Encounter by internationally acclaimed Complicité. (Approx. run time 2 hrs | recommended for ages 12+)

We are delighted to partner with Complicité to broadcast The Encounter online. The show, described as ‘a tour de force’ by the Financial Times (UK), and ‘one of the most fully-immersive theatre pieces ever created’ by the New York Times (US), played a sold out run at London’s Barbican theatre in 2016.

Beginning Friday, May 19 at 12:00pm MT (7pm BST), and accessible until May 25, 2017, the broadcast will be available to watch on our website for FREE. Visit our webpage between May 19 and May 25 WITH your headphones for the full sensory experience!

This broadcast comes fresh off Complicité: Collaborative Curiosity, Theatre Alberta’s Rocky Mountain Series masterclass which concluded at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity on April 30. Theatre Alberta, Theatre Yes, and Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity partnered to present the workshop. Complicité company member Joyce Henderson led 25 participants through a three-day intensive, which explored the company’s unique method of creation.
