Temporary full-time position, June – August 2017 w/ possibility of extension.
Theatre Network is seeking a dedicated and energetic individual to join our team in the position of Festival Assistant for the summer of 2017. About: Theatre Network offers a three-show mainstage season focusing on the finest in contemporary theatre, including original commissioned works by Alberta Playwrights. The company hosts Nextfest, a multi-disciplinary festival of emerging professional artists, and presents the Roxy Performance Series, featuring a wide range of professional theatre and other performances at its venue, the Roxy on Gateway. Theatre Network also operates as a Bring Your Own Venue during the Edmonton International Fringe Festival.
The Position: The Festival Assistant will work with Operations Manager to assist with the efficient running of venues and events during and leading up to Theatre Network’s presentation of Nextfest 2017 (June 1-11), as well as the venue’s operation as a Bring Your Own Venue during the 2017 Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival (August 17-27).

Duties will include: Box office supervision, including processing ticket orders, database management, customer service, donation processing; front of house supervision, including ordering supplies, overseeing concession operation, patron services; festival volunteer coordination, including recruitment, scheduling, and appreciation; and database management and maintenance.
- Experience with box office systems, databases and spreadsheets, as well as a valid driver’s licence and access to use of a vehicle are considered assets.
- This position requires strong communication and team leadership skills as well as the ability to work with both the public and within a small staff environment.
- Competent computer skills and organizational skills are a must, and a love for the arts is very important.
ProServe certification is required.
This is a temporary, full-time position during the period of May 29 – August 27, 2017 averaging 35 hr/week, with increased hours during festival dates and the opportunity to take time in lieu. This position has the possibility of being extended into a permanent, part-time position with Theatre Network.
