Seeking Two Actors for New Play

Multicultural TheatreMulticultural Theatre is seeking two actors for its Edmonton Fringe production of Souls, a new play by Aksam Alyousef.

Roles:

  • Hannah, 30s, a Jewish-Canadian lawyer who has recently moved to Israel after her husband accepted a job there.
  • Eli, 30s, an agricultural engineer and Hannah’s husband.

When: Saturday, May 20.

About Souls: After a family tragedy, a Jewish-Canadian couple emigrates to Israel for a fresh start. When they are housed in the former home of a displaced Palestinian family, Hannah quickly learns they are not alone. This play examines the ways that, despite our religious and political differences, we are all haunted.

About the Playwright: Aksam Alyousef works as a writer, director and producer in theatre and TV. A graduate of Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Syria in 1994, he worked as a professor, teaching theatre in Syria and Qatar, between 1994-2005. He start working at Al-jazeera Children Channel as a writer and producer in 2005 before moving to Canada in 2016. Souls is his second play in Canada after Honey and Nuts, which was produced by Concrete Theatre in 2016 at the Sprouts Festival.
