Hiring regular, full-time Community Development Specialist for southern Alberta
Company: The Alberta Jubilee Auditoria Society (also referred to as the “Jubilee Society”) is a not-for-profit organization that emphasizes extraordinary patron services and fostering cultural development in both Edmonton and Calgary facilities. The Jubilee Society is led by a Board of Directors with representatives from across Alberta. As volunteers from the community, Board members work for the betterment of the Jubilee and strive to promote the importance of art and culture.
Operational Vision: To engage, excite and celebrate community and cultural spirit through Alberta’s Jubilee Auditoria.
Main Purpose and Function: The Community Development Specialist is responsible for curating content to connect the Jubilee to the citizens of Southern Alberta region, governments, corporate and cultural Industry.
Key Contacts and Reporting Relationships: Reporting to the Executive Director, and working in coordination and cooperation with the Jubilee Auditoria team, plan, organize, and develop community engagement activities of Southern Alberta. Providing leadership input on an ongoing basis to the current, comprehensive, living business plan for the Society. Provide leadership in developing and keeping current all Community Engagement-related duties, goals, and objectives.

Responsibilities:
- Participate in budget development and budgetary oversight for the area of Community Engagement for the society, in consultation with the Executive Director and community engagement staff as appropriate;
- Informed and regular input to the Executive Director and to committees as/if appropriate regarding long and short term Community Engagement needs for the Jubilee, particularly but not exclusively as regards to enhancing best practices, developing our distance learning initiatives, identifying markets, providing extraordinary experiences for our identified communities, and optimizing appropriate programming opportunities and partnerships;
- Identify possible revenue sources for the programming, such as sponsorships and other sources, and developing and overseeing those relationships accordingly;
- Regular liaison with Jubilee staff and community stakeholders pertaining to both the Northern and the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditoria;
- Other community engagement needs of the society as they arise;
- Assist with building an annual Business plan; and be responsible for realizing the components of the business plan that pertain to Community Engagement goals, activities and responsibilities for the Society;
- Determine pricing of various community engagement services and programs (and products, as/if applicable);
- Determine location(s), reach of various programs and services; and
- Determine target markets, sales approach, positioning of programs within the market.
Financial management:
- Develop, implement and monitor the financial plan for community engagement activities of the society;
- Investigate and pursue outside funding opportunities – opportunities for stewardship of education and outreach programs; investigate appropriate sources of funding/grant writing;
- Human resources and contractor management as required for programming; and
- Volunteer implementation and management.
Oversight of Programs:
- Southern Alberta education programs – including but not limited to ‘Jube School;’
- Develop and produce programs to deliver Mission and Vision;
- Culture Days supervision on behalf of Southern Jubilee;
- Arts partnership opportunities to break down barriers to the right of creative expression;
- Hosting related receptions, other events and activities; and
- Other events, activities and programming as required.
Public relations:
- Collaboratively develop, implement and monitor public relations plan for the society’s community engagement activities;
- Represent the society at various community-related events, openings, and other occasions;
- Develop and maintain community relations and alliances relevant to community engagement activities of the society, esp. in the arts, education, and arts-in-education communities (e.g.: ACAD, EAC, PACE, CPAA, U of A, U of C, MacEwan, Mt. Royal, SAIT, Jubilee’s resident arts companies and other major clients, CBE, EBE, other provincial education boards, ATA, Alberta Education, AFA, other); and
- Oversee Community Engagement related special events as the occasion determines in consultation with Society and Government staff.
